Contrary to what his name might imply, Author actually is not the comic's true Author - rather, he is a piece of that Author, along with Spectre and Negative Author. Despite this, he lords himself over the rest of the cast as their "God" and punishes them when they don't treat him as such. He tends not to come into the comic unless he's needed for some reason... or if he wants to pick on Mav. Author still cares for the characters in the comic, even though he didn't physically create all of them. Against normal foes, Author would be invincible due to his complete control over the comic, but he has shown decent skill with a sword as well.
